About Estani
Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Estani immersed herself in the culture of the city. Her grandmother was a well-known singer in the area and her mother studied opera for a time. Musical influences were always around, thus instilling the drive to perform and shape her craft.
Rather than singing initially, however, Estani began playing the cello. She became second chair for the children's chamber orchestra and won all-state awards throughout high school. Upon entering her first university, The University of North Texas, she began as a music major with an emphasis on the cello.
In addition to music, Estani developed a love for dance as well. She joined the Ballet Folklorico de San Antonio and became a company dancer by age 12. Estani had her first glimpse of California when she performed as the youngest member of the company at the Oakland Pavilion as well as performances in San Fransisco. She remained with the company for more than nine years.
Completing her education in New York with a bachelors degree in Fine Arts and English, Estani moved to Los Angeles to further pursue her musical and performance career. Since arriving in Los Angeles, Estani has continued to do what she was meant to do ---perform.
After moving to LA, Estani quickly became the lead singer for the skafrocuban jazz band Yeska and was invited to perform at the annual Montreal Latin Jazz Festival in Canada. Shortly thereafter, she sang for the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon, Fiesta Broadway, and opened for the grammy award winning congero, Poncho Sanchez, and filled in for Linda Ronstadt with Texas legend, grammy award winner Flaco Jimenez, singing the tex-mex duo hit, "El Puente Roto".
This collaboration set in motion the inspiration Estani needed to write her first album honoring her Texas roots, while providing her own signature sound.
Aside from fronting numerous high profile events as a vocalist, Estani has used her talents as a songwriter as well, writing not only latin songs, but many r&b and pop songs, not only for herself, but for artists in Russia, the U.S., and Mexico, all the way to film documentaries in Argentina and Japan.
Estani has lent her vocals to grammy award winning artists Laura Pausini on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Olga Breeskin, Maricela, and, most notably Joan Sebastian, singing with the composer for more than two years as his corista and duet singer.
Her debut CD, "Mariposa", has a tex-mex sound coupled with an eclectic mix of pop, soul, and various latin rhythms that only singer/songwriter (she wrote every song on the cd) Estani, can deliver authentically and effortlessly. "Mariposa" has a refreshing and unique new sound, crossing barriers others have yet to cross. She is already working on her next album, which will feature another inspirational genre……neo-soul with a latin twist. There will be much more to come from this rising, dynamic, singer/songwriter, Estani.
