Our 5th and 6th grade teacher, Estani Frizzell, is originally from San Antonio, TX and has been living in Los Angeles for over ten years.
Ms. Frizzell attended the University of North Texas in Dallas for two years before transferring, with a scholarship, to Adelphi University in New York. Ms. Frizzell graduated at the top of her class, magna cum laude, with a double major in English Literature and Fine Arts. Her Fine Arts studies include drama, dance, art appreciation, and music theory.
Estani moved to Los Angeles and began teaching for East LA College while mentoring East L.A. youth through the works of Shakespeare. Sixteen-week workshops were held throughout the Montebello and Bell Gardens School Districts to provide a better grasp on the various literary works of Shakespeare through modern language. The workshops were held for grades 5-8, complete with costumes, stage crew, and final performance. Upon the culmination of this program, Ms. Frizzell then took a teaching position with MUISD as a 6th-8th grade teacher, as well as implementing the choir after school program for Montebello Intermediate School.
After four years of teaching for MUISD, Estani was offered a chance to work full time as a back-up singer for a grammy-award winning artist. Ms. Frizzell worked and traveled with the group for three years before taking the position as our 5th and 6th grade teacher.
Upon enrolling her then three-year old into the pre-school, she came across an opening for the 5th and 6th grade position here at Good Shepherd School. She was happy to find a nurturing, close-knit environment that enabled her to work so closely with her daughter and provide a solid, advanced foundation for our 5th and 6th graders.
